Efforts made to Reinstate Christian educational institutions by Christian Minister in Punjab, Pakistan.

A Christian Member Punjab Assembly, Ejaz Alam Augestine is the current active Minister Human Rights/ Minorities Affairs/Interfaith harmony of Punjab province in Pakistan. Striving hard by following issues of human rights violations and issues faced by minorities in Punjab province, on daily basis he’s busy with helping victims in the matters such as registration of police complaints and much more.

On 3rd September 2019 a copy of Chief Minister Punjab office order emerged on scene in response to Ejaz Alam Augestine efforts requesting the CM Punjab to reinstate the Christian educational institutions in Punjab province.

This is a very good step, During 70s, the government of Pakistan nationalized various Christian institutions and now after almost 50 years the newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan has repeatedly stated that he wants to make Pakistan a country where the Christians and other religious minorities feel and believe themselves as equal citizens.

The positive development in this regard is that the Chief Minister Punjab has issued this office order demanding a detailed summary of the institutions which were nationalized back in 70s for further processing and may be may be if Christians in Pakistan are lucky enough the long forgotten historical institutions with Christian identity might be reinstated to Christians which over the years served and helped the Pakistani nation after independence in 1947.

This is a positive gesture from the side of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf’s government in Punjab which has certainly given some confidence to Christians living in Punjab Province.

On the other hand the long disputed issue of Edward College, Peshawar still demands the equal attention from the sitting Government of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf in KPK Province. As there are reports that after Court orders which clearly directed the Gov.KPK to not interfere in private administrative matters of Peshawer Diocese Church’s Edward College but Gov. KPK is still trying to revoke the institutions Christian identity and wants to get control of it at any cost.

The National level Government of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf must focus on the situation of Edward College Peshawer’s issue as well.

Since 1947 Christians have served Pakistan in all forms whether it was Education, Skill development, Health, Defense and much more.

All Christians living in Pakistan demand the basic human right of respect and treatment as per humanity values and practical efforts of Government towards elimination of deep rooted #Christophobia that exists in Pakistani Society.
